Steps in Creating a Form

Ms Access

Hey what's up Humanoids! Database is important nowadays and it's part of our lives now. MS Access is one of the most well-known DBMS programs that can store large amounts of data. Tables are it's basic unit next is FORMS. So today, we're going to discuss different ways on how to create a form in MS Acces.

What is a form ?
A form is an object that allows you to input, edit, or view data from/in your database. Forms usually displays one record at a time and can be customized based on user preference. In a database context, a form is a window or screen that contains numerous fields, or spaces to enter data. Each field holds a field label so that any user who views the form gets an idea of its contents. A form is more user friendly than generating queries to create tables and insert data into fields.

Creating Forms

  1. Using Auto Forms

a) Open your database.
b) From the Database Window, select the table you want to create a form.
c) Select the Create tab on the Ribbon.
d) Click the FORM ICON on the Ribbon. A form in its Layout View will automatically be created based on the selected table.
e) Look at the bottom right corner of the form and click the first icon to switch to Form View.
d) Customize your Form if you want.
e) Don't forget to save it.

 2. Using a Form Wizard

Using the Form Wizard and Form Design View give you more control over the look and functions of your form. These two allow you to select fields from more than one table or query, as well as giving you a lot of choices about how the form will appear.

a) Click the Create tab on the Ribbon
b) Click Form Wizard icon image.
-take note that in the initial steps of the wizard you will be asked to specify which fields will be included in the form
c) Click the button to select all of the fields to be used in the form. All of the fields will now be listed on the right side.
d) Double-click on assigned ID of the record to move it back over the the left, since you will not show it in the form.
e) Click Next to move to the next step of the wizard.
f) Leave Columnar selected from the Form Layout and click Next.
g) Assign name to the form
h) Click Finish and Save.

 3. Using Scratch Form

It's harder to use this method because you're the one who will design the whole form. No wizards will help in this. It means you're the master of the form, you'll be the one designing, editing, and organizing the form.

a) Click the Blank Form button on the Create tab.
b) A blank form will be created
c) Select different commands , buttons, designs, in the Design Tab.
d) BTW. There's a pop-up window that contains existing Fields from the table. Simply double-click on the field on the left and it will be added to your Blank Form.
e) Good luck!
